RECOMMENDATION FOR FURTHER STUDY

 

1.                 Remaining 41 trades taught in I.T.Is should all be examined to ascertain to what extent they can be learnt & practiced by blind person.

2.                 The Govt. of India should be requested to provide workshop or other similar facilities in urban areas and formation of self help group in rural and semi urban areas to utilize the schemes acquire by blind student. This mechanism should be modified in a light of experiences from time to time.

3.                 Training of instructors in methods of teaching blind students should be regularly conducted by NIVH, and other National agencies.

4.                 The course already drafted should be modified in the light of actual experience after trying out by admitting a few blind student in each of the identified trades.

5.                 Science and Technology mission should initiate research design to develop equipment to enable blind student to practice the trades already studied.

6.                 Research should also be undertaken in junior technical schools to identify occupations taught by them, which can also be taught to blind students.

7.                 Study of some selected Polytechnics should be conducted to identify occupations suitable for blind & low vision students taught by them.

8.                 Science & Technology mission should undertake study from time to time to identify newer occupations for the visually impaired in order to widen vocational choices of blinds students.

9.                 Special attention should be paid to developing appropriate training programmes for rural occupations.               

10.             Sculpture, Pottery & Similar occupations which could provide self employment opportunity for blind people both in urban and rural areas should be closely explored to determine what modification are necessary in order to enable blind persons to be self employed in these occupations.
