ZONALCOORDINATION COMMITTEE

Objectives:
  1. To give an opportunity to regional institutions to take more responsibility for some of its activities.
  2. To create greater awareness and ensuring rapid progress in the development of various courses to suit the need of each region.
  3. To provide easier access to institutes wishing to affiliate themselves to RCI.
  4. To share the accomplishment of some of the tasks allocated to RCI.

Term of the members of the committee - 3 years.
Composition:
The broad composition of the Zonal Committee is as follows :-

  1. The head of the Nodal Agency of the respective Zone shall be designated as Chairperson of the Zonal Committee and its nominee as the Convenor.
  2. Representative of the three other training institutions of the region.
  3. Representative of the concerned Govt. departments, like Deptt. of Education, Welfare, Panchayati Raj, Institutions, Health, Rural Development etc. on rotational basis.
  4. State Commissioner Disability.
  5. Two members of NGOs not included in the regular training programme approved by the Council.
  6. Two members from University dealing with social science/ school of social work etc.

Functions: Functioning of the Zonal Coordination Committee is as follows:

  1. All its functions shall be advisory in nature.
  2. All decisions having a legal implication shall be taken in consultation with RCI.
  3. To facilitate inspection of institutions applying for recognition with the approval of RCI.
  4. To convene one meeting in a year to discuss technical issues relating to the region. If in case of requirement more meetings of experts/ core group can be organized with the approval of the Council.
  5. To convene Seminars / Symposium/ Workshops at different placed in their zone on technical issues pertaining to the region with the approval of RCI.
  6. To facilitate in improving the quality of training being conducted in their zone by recognized institutions.
  7. Translation and writing of appropriate literature relevant to the region and to prepare such reports as RCI may request the committee to do.
  8. To create awareness of the activities of the Council and other acts promulgated by the Govt. of India for the benefit of Persons with Disability. The Zonal Committee will establish proper liaison between State Govt. and RCI.
  9. To forward grievance of individuals or institutions to Chairman, RCI with necessary comments. The decision of the RCI shall be final and abiding on all parties in case of any dispute.
  10. Any other functions that may be assigned to the Committee by RCI from time to time.
  11. Seven Zonal Coordination Committees have started functioning and the meetings were hold as shown below :
